Captable AI

Captable AI

This article is for founders and admins using Fairmint.

Ask questions about your cap table in plain English.

Captable AI is a chat interface that lets you interact with your cap table using natural language. Instead of navigating through tables and filters, you can simply ask questions and get instant answers.

Where to Find It

Captable AI is available in three places:

  1. Dashboard — a chat bar at the bottom of your dashboard with suggested prompts

  2. Global header — an "Ask Captable AI" button appears in the top header on every page throughout the app

  3. Timeline View — a Captable AI panel appears in the Timeline View with additional context-aware features like @ references (see Using @ References below). The Timeline View is available to all users, but the Captable AI panel within it is enabled on a per-account basis.

The Dashboard and header entry points open the same chat interface. The Timeline View Captable AI panel offers additional capabilities when enabled for your account.

What You Can Ask

Captable AI understands questions about your cap table data. Some examples:

  • "What's the current ownership breakdown?"

  • "Who are the largest shareholders?"

  • "Show me all SAFEs"

  • "Are there any validation issues?"

  • "Who are the founders?"

  • "How many shares does [stakeholder name] own?"

The AI responds with answers, tables, or suggestions based on your actual cap table data.

Suggested Prompts

When you first open the chat, you'll see suggested prompts to get started. These are tailored to common cap table questions and give you a quick way to explore your data without typing.

Click any suggested prompt to send it immediately.

Threaded Conversations

Conversations are threaded — you can follow up on previous messages within the same chat session. The AI remembers context from earlier in the conversation, so you can refine your questions:

  • "Show me all common stock holders"

  • "Which of those were added this year?"

  • "What's their total ownership percentage?"

Approvals and Feedback

When the AI suggests a change to your cap table (e.g., correcting a value or adding missing data), you can:

  • Approve the suggestion to apply it

  • Reject it to dismiss

  • Provide feedback to improve future suggestions

Changes suggested by the AI are never applied automatically — you always have the final say.

Using @ References

> Note: @ references are available only when the Captable AI panel is enabled for your account within the Timeline View. If you don't see the Captable AI panel in the Timeline View, this feature is not yet active for your account.

In the Timeline View version of Captable AI, you can type @ in the chat to reference specific events from your timeline. This gives the AI additional context for more precise answers:

  • "@January 2024 Common Stock issuance — is this correct?"

  • "@Series A conversion — what would the dilution be?"
