Method A: Automatic

1) Go to the domain settings in your portal

You can find it by visiting the 'Home' tab in the Admin the scrolling down to the section labeled 'Connect The Dots'. Once you are there click the 'Setup you Custom Domain' line item and click 'Verify DNS Now'.

2) Launch Auto Configure

Look for a grey bar labeled 'Auto Configure with Entri'. It can take a moment to load. If it does not show that means you domain manager is not compatible and you will need to use Method B below. When you see the grey bar click 'Auto-configure'.

3) Follow the steps from Entri

Entri will guide you in a few steps to connect your custom domain 😁.

4) Verify DNS

It can take a few hours for this change to propagate across the internet. Come back later and click on "Verity my DNS" to finalize the DNS changes and move your portal to your custom domain.

Method B: Manual

1) Sign in to your domain host

This would be GoDaddy, Squarespace, NameCheap, or similar. Whichever one you use to host your domain.

2) Get your DNS entires

They will be found attached to an email we sent you. If it has been over 48hrs since the email was sent these entires are expired. You will need to contact support for a new set.

3) Add the CNAME records to your domain's DNS records

This will be slightly different for each domain host. You can check their support documents for exact instructions. In general:

  1. Add the text from the Name column to the Name/Host field

  2. Set the Type field to CNAME

  3. Lastly, add the text in the Value column to the Value/Data/Points/Target field

  4. Repeat for each entry provided in the document we sent you

4) Verify DNS

It can take a few hours for this change to propagate across the internet. Come back later and click on "Verity my DNS" to finalize the DNS changes and move your portal to your custom domain.

Trouble Shooting

If you are having trouble make sure you are not entering redundant information in the fields. For example if you enter the Name/Host value of 'community.yoursite.com' try only entering 'community'. Some DNS providers will pre-fill the other part for you. Try this for each DNS record.
