Create Your Account and Get Verified
This article is for investors, shareholders, and anyone who holds equity through Fairmint.
Getting into the Fairmint Shareholder's App takes a few minutes. You sign up, confirm your phone number, and verify your identity once. After that, every company you hold equity in recognises the same verified identity, so you never repeat the process for a new founder.
Step 1: Sign up
Go to app.fairmint.com and create your account with your email address.
If a founder invited you, use the email address they sent the invitation to. Signing up with a different address means the app cannot connect you to the position waiting for you. If you have already signed up under the wrong address, reply in the chat — our team will verify your identity and then link the accounts.
Step 2: Confirm your phone number
Enter your phone number and the code we text you.
Step 3: Confirm your identity
Fairmint looks for an existing verified identity that matches you and shows you what it found. Most people see their own details, confirm Is this you?, and move straight on.
If there is no match, you complete verification in the app. You will be asked for:
Your full legal name, as it appears on your identity document
Your date of birth
Your address
A photo of an identity document, and in most cases a quick selfie check
US and Canadian phone numbers run through this automatically inside the app. Most other countries do too. A small number of countries are not supported by the automatic route, and those hand off to our verification partner in a new browser tab. The questions are the same either way.
> Use your legal name here, not a nickname or an initial. This name goes on the cap tables that record your equity, so a mismatch causes work later.
Step 4: Land in your portfolio
Once you are verified, the app opens.
If a company already issued you something, it is there waiting for you. If not, you will see setup options: add holdings you own elsewhere, register a business you invest through, or look around first.
What you can do while verification is processing
Most checks clear in a few minutes. Some take longer, and a few need another document from you. What you can do in the meantime depends on whether a company has already issued you equity.
Where you are | What you can do |
Verified | Everything: view holdings, add holdings, sign investments, register an entity, and take action on your equity |
You already hold something, verification pending | See the positions you already have, and their documents. Adding new holdings and anything that changes your equity waits until you are verified |
New account, nothing held yet | Finish verification first. The app opens as soon as you are through |
Holding something means a real position: a cap table entry, a SAFE or grant from a company on Fairmint, or an investment you imported yourself. An invitation you have not acted on yet does not count as a holding.
If your check needs something more from you, the app says so and links you straight to it. If a check was rejected, the app points you to support rather than leaving you stuck.
Common questions
Question | Answer |
I verified for one company. Do I have to do it again for another? | No. Verification sits at the Fairmint level, so it carries across every company you hold equity in. |
My verification was rejected. What now? | Reply in the chat. Rejections are usually a document quality problem and are quick to sort out. |
I was invited but the link says it belongs to someone else. | The invitation went to a different email address. Sign in with the address the founder used, or reply in the chat so our team can verify and help. |
Do I verify myself or my company? | Both are separate checks. See Invest through a company, fund, or trust. |
Need help? Reply in the chat inside the app and our team will pick it up.
